Tammy Mercurio
EC Support & Teacher Assistant
Tammy Mercurio joins Accelerate Academy as an EC Support & Assistant Teacher, bringing decades of experience supporting children, families, and school communities. Known for her patience, dependability, organization, and warm personality, Tammy is passionate about helping students feel safe, supported, and successful throughout their school day.
Tammy’s experience working with children began as a private nanny and later included serving as a Teacher Assistant at My Child & Me Childcare Center. She has continued working closely with children and families throughout her career, most recently serving as a private nanny and house manager. These roles have strengthened her ability to anticipate individual needs, manage routines, remain calm and flexible, and provide consistent, compassionate support.
In addition to her professional experience, Tammy has been an active volunteer with Union Academy Charter School since 2014, assisting students in the classroom, chaperoning school activities, coordinating volunteers, and supporting the school community. She has also served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and has held leadership and volunteer roles with Union Academy’s marching and concert band programs.
At Accelerate Academy, Tammy works alongside our teachers to provide individualized support for students with exceptional needs, assist with classroom instruction and daily routines, and help create a positive, structured learning environment. Her strong listening skills, empathy, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to each student make her a valuable part of our EC team.
Outside of the classroom, Tammy has a special love for animals and enjoys supporting children and families in her community. Her caring nature and commitment to helping others align beautifully with Accelerate Academy’s mission of recognizing each student’s strengths and providing the support they need to grow in confidence, independence, and success.
